Chinese Mandarin for Everyone人人学中文
"Chinese Mandarin for Everyone" classes have really helped me to speak and better understand Chinese Mandarin. Chien Loashi takes a practical and effective approach that focuses on normal everyday situations - lessons devoted to: greetings, ordering at a restaurant, telling time, traveling, making a phone call, banking etc.
Learning Chinese expressions is also an important part of these classes; knowing expressions can make a big impression and they're fun. And, she provides CDs with recordings of all her lessons which are invaluable by way of repetition to learn the proper pronunciation and to speak and understand Mandarin.
For me, the "Chinese Mandarin for Everyone" classes rate at least 5 stars!

"Your Chinese Mandarin for Everyone class was a wonderful experience. I appreciated your utilization of cultural background to provide context for the vocabulary and conversational skills taught; and found your attention to detail and correct pronunciation extremely helpful. The class was thoroughly enjoyable, and I can’t wait to take the next level!"
“Ms. Janie Chien has simplified a very elaborate system Pinyin to transcribe Chinese characters using the Roman alphabet, more commonly known to us as “a, b, c…”. Since you can read in English you can master it... Above all, Janie excels in the correct (standard/Beijing) pronunciation and figures of speech leading to more affluent conversations in Chinese Mandarin.”
"Actors, don’t wait till you have to say a few words fluently for an audition, a movie or a commercial. Sign up now for Ms. Chien's Chinese Mandarin for Everyone class in LA Valley College!"

I received my SAT 2 Chinese test score and I wanted to thank you so much for teaching me. I scored a 790 out of 800 (the national average for a non native speaker is 720)!!! I could not have done it without you. The test was very similar to the book and to our conversations. "The Beginning Chinese class was well-paced, covering a wide range of commonly used Mandarin Chinese words. The most popular topic was the class on food! Chien Laoshi made the class highly interactive which supported our ability to converse in Chinese. It was a very useful beginning class, though I could personally stand to practice a bit more between classes."
