Nǐ hǎo 你好！Hello!

   I am Janie C. Golden (AKA Janie Chien). I was born in Shanghai, China. I am a native speaker of Chinese Mandarin. I studied music, sociology, Chinese Literature and Language at Cal State L.A. I have won 1st place twice in Southern California Universties and Colleges Chinese Poetry Recitation Contest held at Cal State L.A. both in 2002 and 2003. You may listen to one of the Chinese classic poems - I did at "Audio Gallery" section. 

       I also studied vocal performaing art (voice) at Wesleyan College, Macon, Georgia.  

       Today, I am your instructor of "Chinese Mandarin for Everyone - Rén Rén Xué Zhōngwén人人学中文."

         Moreover, I am a Chinese Mandarin Coach for actors and singers. I have helped many actors and singers, such as Reggie Lee, Michelle Krusiec, and Victoria Chan(indcluding some directors and producers) throughout these years. It has been a great pleasure to help these talented people to be successful in today's challenging industry.... 

         Through my teaching experiences, I am deeply moved by so many students for their diligence with great accomplishments in learning Chinese Mandarin. Their devoted ideas and positive spirits are always inspiring !

       Here, I dedicate this website to all my dear students who have shared the precious time, unique ideas, sincere support, and hearty laughter with me throughout the years. 

Our Textbook - wǒmen de kèběn 我们的课本

I have written this textbook for the students who are English-speakers and non-Chinese-Mandarin-speakers to fit your special needs. This book also has 3 audio CDs (each lesson's text has recorded with a clear pronunciation and English translation). In this class, I will focus on the Pīnyīn system (Roman Alphabet) and Four Tones - to make your learning experience a happy journey!

        Among the students, there are school teachers, nurses, doctors, actors, writers, film directors and producers, university students and professors, lawyers, engineers, accountants, owners of business,administrators, homemakers and children etc. - all of them share the same goal that is to learn this amazing language and get to know the Chinese culture and people better... Today, more and more people enroll in "Chinese Mandarin for Everyone" classes for their pratical needs in a variety of fields.
